Adobe Creative Cloud: Using generative AI (Firefly)

Bryn Mawr College students, faculty and staff can use Adobe's generative AI tool, called Adobe Firefly to create and edit images, sound and video clips using text prompts. Adobe Firefly is currently available as a standalone web-based app and as AI features with Illustrator and Photoshop. Our license provides 1000 generative credits per month that can be used across all applications.

Before you start, you may need the following:

Appropriate use

Your use of Adobe Firefly and generative AI features within Adobe applications is governed by college policies and guidelines and by Adobe's policies and terms of service:

  • Adobe's acceptable use policy for generative AI tools prohibits using them with copyrighted material you don't own and with sensitive data. Adobe reserves the right to monitor content you generate for abuse of this policy.
  • Adobe's generative AI terms of use only indemnify you against claims of copyright infringement if you do not violate their acceptable use policy concerning copyrighting material.
  • Adobe's terms of use state that they will not use your content to train generative AI models, except in very specific cases where you request it.

Creating Images or Video

As with any generative AI tool, you will need to type "prompts" or instructions into a text bar to create or edit images with Firefly. Every time you click the Generate button, Firefly deducts 1 generative credit from your monthly allowance of 1000.
