Panopto: Get and log into your account

Panopto is an online, lecture-capture and video-streaming platform that Bryn Mawr students, faculty, and staff can use to create, host, and share streaming video and audio files. It works much like YouTube, but unlike with YouTube, there are no ads and Bryn Mawr staff administer the site and can help you recover access to recordings shared with you if the owner leaves the college.

Do I need a Panopto account?

  • You DO NOT need an account to view public Panopto videos. Just click on the link or hover the video and press play.
  • You DO need an account to:
    • View videos shared through Moodle. If you are enrolled in a Moodle course with a Panopto block, a Panopto account is created for you automatically.
    • View videos shared only with specific individuals or BMC Panopto users only
    • Record or host your own streaming videos

Get and log into a Panopto account

The first time you log into Panopto, an account will be created for you if you don't already have one.

  1. Go to
  2. Choose a log-in option:

    • Moodle -- Bryn Mawr faculty, students and staff and non-Bryn Mawr students enrolled in a Moodle course
  3. Click Sign In.
  4. Enter your college credentials and authenticate with Duo if prompted.

See Panopto's Getting Started walkthroughs and video tutorials and other Panopto guides in Ask Athena for an overview of the platform interface and how to upload, record, and share media.

Attention non-Bryn Mawr students: You may lose access to your Bryn Mawr Panopto account when you are no longer enrolled in Bryn Mawr courses. Check with your home institution for long-term access and storage: Haverford, Swarthmore and UPenn have their own Panopto subscriptions.
