Panopto: Collect audiovisual assignments

Panopto provides a few different methods for students to upload audio and video recordings as part of a class assignment or project. Each method has different the pros and cons that you should consider when choosing which to use.

Before You Start, you may need access to the following:

Method 1: Use an assignment folder in Panopto

An Assignment folder is a special type of subfolder in which students can create and upload recordings. As a result, it gives students an easy way to submit audio and video recordings. These recordings can either be made directly in Panopto or first created and edited with other tools before being uploaded to Panopto.

A course folder in Panopto can only have one Assignment subfolder active at a time. If your course includes multiple audiovisual assignments, you can either create a single Assignments subfolder and instruct students on how to name their recordings so that it's clear to which assignment they belong OR delete your old assignment folder and create a new one each time you create a new audio or visual assignment.

Method 2: Give students creator access to a Panopto course folder

Anyone with a Teacher role in Moodle can give students "Creator access" to a Panopto course folder. This allows students to directly upload recordings into the course folder.
